overview Dr. Zivar Yousefipour is a Professor at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Texas Southern University. Dr. Yousefipour received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Masters of Science in Biochemistry from University of Houston. She finished her PhD in Environmental Toxicology from Texas Southern University in 2004. Dr. Yousefipour has extensive research experience in cardiovascular diseases that includes studies focusing on effect of environmental pollutants on cardiovascular system, mechanism of acute renal filature, role of sodium transporters in salt-induced hypertension, and the aging process. Dr. Yousefipour maintains a research laboratory in COPHS studying the mechanism of acrolein-induced toxicity of vascular system. She has been the recipient of several awards including 2005 Caroline Tum Sudan Professional Opportunity Award from American Physiological Society. As the result of her work, Dr. Yousefipour has authored or co-authored 15 scientific papers in prominent journals and 27 presentations at national and international meetings. Dr. Yousefipour has been a member of several professional organizations including American Heart Association, American Physiological Society, and Society of Toxicology. Dr. Yousefipour's research has been supported by a SC3 grant from NIH/NIGMS 2014 - 2018.
